LSU making too big a deal out of the Jindal bumper stickers?
Recently, LSU requested that Bobby Jindal's campaign committee, cease and desist the production of their purple and gold 'Tigers for Jindal' stickers because of "the school's polices use of its colors and mascot because they are so closely identified with the school". I can see how this is a somewhat gray area because of the combination of the colors and the mascot, but does LSU really have a copyright on the word tiger and those colors? Obviously the Jindal people didnt want to infringe on LSU since they didn't use the letters LSU, but how far is LSU going to take this? If the stickers were just purple and gold with Jindal's name on them, or if they were white and had 'Tigers for Jindal' on them, would either or both of those be acceptable? LSU needs to rethink their approach to this before they take it too far and cause alot of unwanted grief between the possible future governor of the state and the University.
Vote on our poll and tell us what you think. Should the Jindal campaign be forced to cease production of these stickers or not?
