Michael Moore's "Sicko"
I know there aren't that many fans of Michael Moore's work (especially after Fahrenheit 9/11), but I recently gave his movie Sicko a shot.
Sicko is about the Health Care industry, and it's quite eye-opening. Of course, to make for good TV, he does exaggerate and distort the health care quality of Guantanamo Bay and Cuba, but his claims are otherwise intriguing.
He talks about health care in Canada and Europe, their public system, etc. He glorifies it and makes you realize it can be done. I think a lot of people down here associate "public health care" with "Earl K. Long," which is probably not a fair comparison.
Anyway, while Michael Moore can be an inflammatory, pompous ass, he's also got a few good points. Has anyone else seen it?

I saw it and I agree with you on the Gitmo point. I wish we had the public health care system that other countries had.

Yeah...here we hear all about "in Canada some people wait 6 months for an operation," but here some people never receive the operation they need because they can't afford it!

I have a friend who is from Ghana, in Africa. He told me once that citizens there pay absolutely zero for anything medical related, be it doctor visits, prescriptions, hospital visits and surgery.
I find that pretty incredible.

Not true at all. There are several highly developed areas there with excellent medical treatment available.

I wonder what country Moore goes to for major surgery. Looks like he's due for a by pass soon.
I'm not sure how this Federal Health Care would work here in the U.S. Would it be handled like F.E.M.A. handles things? Would the money be handled as well as the Road Home Program?
I have a feeling for every dollar we pay in to a Federal Health Care Program we would get less than a cent back in benefits after it's managed to the nth degree.

I bet if we knock off E. Eric Guirard and Morris Bart, our health insurance AND car insurance premiums would decline.
