Is Bobby Jindal just another 'Typical Politician'?

Now that all the hype over getting Blanco out of office has died down and its back to business as usual, people are starting to see the real Bobby Jindal. Sure he came out of the gate strong and appeared to have some great plans for the state, but low and behold the typical politician demeanor has surfaced. By that I’m talking about your average 'say whatever you think they want to hear when you're campaigning for office'. By that I'm referring to campaign promises that are usually not worth the paper they're written on. In this case, Jindal printed a pretty specific campaign promise on a flier that he distributed during his campaign. It simply stated that he would "prohibit legislators from giving themselves pay raises that take effect before the subsequent election and that any increase in salary approved by the legislature should take effect after the next election so the public can decide who deserves that compensation"

Don't get me wrong here, I’m not arguing for nor against the pay raise that takes effect July 1st. That's a whole other article. The subject at hand here is why our Governor would print that on a campaign flier yet when approached with that exact issue, do a complete 180. He is quoted as saying "i am against this pay raise but I will not veto it". Well, Governor Jindal, based on your actions regarding this issue, why should the people of Louisiana believe anything else you've written on your nice little campaign brochure?

The bottom line is that you had the chance to prove your integrity with this issue and you blew it. Your ethics reform has caused 9 of the 11 ethics board members to resign and now this. Its no wonder a recall effort has surfaced and moving forward. I personally hope you aren't recalled, but its apparent that you have really rubbed some citizens the wrong way.

If Jindal published an ad which stated as mentioned and then failed to live up to it one would think he could be sued for false advertisement.

I have never been one hundred percent pleased with any politician and don't expect anything different from this one. All political positions should be made to be voluntary with no pay. It would still be easy to fill the positions. Who wouldn't be willing to be a representative, congressman, governor, or even president even if it didn't pay anything at all? Most of us would.

Allowing politicians to vote themselves a raise is just as unethical as allowing police to police themselves, lawyers to regulate themselves, and doctors to oversee themselves.

Jindal must have been blackmailed by these legislators somehow and led to believe they would not pass anything for him if he didn't return the favor.

Of course he did. He had no choice. He didn't think that anybody would notice the raise, but he was wrong.
