Sherwood Park Apartments - 13047 Florida Blvd

So here we go with the eyesores of Baton Rouge ranting. There are so many, I really dont know where to begin. I haven't had a chance to photograph some of the REALLY good (bad) ones yet, but here is a great little start. I am fortunate enough to get to pass this lovely little slice of heaven on a daily basis as I work somewhat near to this apartment complex.

As long as I've been seeing this lovely 3 piece living room set sitting here for so long, I must say its become commonplace to see it. Really the only issue I have here is that the owner had the audacity to go with the plaid couch when any good decorator knows that solid colors are in. Sure the colors of the plaid fit right in to the earth tones, but how dare he decorate with plaid when so many people have to pass by here.

You have to give credit where credit is due and they did at least dump the garbage near the dumpsters, which are so cleverly placed RIGHT OUT ON THE STREET. I spoke with the guy who cuts the grass at this complex and he begged me not to report this scene to the owner. He said that having a living room in the grass saves him a minimum of 12 minutes per cutting and that he no longer has to go back to his truck to sit back and take a break. Now he can actually do it while he runs his weedeater around the rubbish.

If you can make time to get out of the house, don't sell yourself short. Make a pass by and take in the beauty of it all. We all dream about having a living room right out in the yard so we can enjoy nature as it were intended to be. The folks at Sherwood Park Apartments weren't afraid to make their dreams a reality!

Hahah

what a dump! who in the hell owns that rat's nest of an apartment complex? I have been watching it deteriorate for years. I couldn't imagine having to live there and look at that beautiful setting everytime I came home. I think i'll email the councilwoman a link to this so she can see how her district is holding up. We should level this dump and put Rouzan here.

This may be worth taking a drive to see. Maybe we can get a Featured on Baton Rouge Today sign and put it out front. I volunteer my services for the task

Unless there is another Sherwood Park Apartments, according to the list of corporations in Louisiana it appears to go back to a Rolfe McCollister. Don't hold me to that tho, i could be wrong....but i doubt it.

As for Rouzan building there, they couldn't make enough money. Thats why they wouldn't put it there were it could actually help improve the city and community.

Passed by this weekend. It looks just like the photos say! The grass is a wee bit taller, but other than that, its a lovely sight.

Thumbs up What can you do? YOU CAN

You can report it to the City Parish, call 311 or report via brgov.com. (Submit a request for service.) You can report trash accumulating, overgrown properties, weeds, junk vehicles, etc... I prefer to submit online because you get a ticket number. You can follow up with the number and provide it to your council member. It works. Then we can start a thread about all the changes we have been able to make. before and after It is your Baton Rouge-
