Mark Shipley of Port Allen Arrested on Sex Charges

West Baton Rouge Parish sheriff's officials have arrested a Port Allen man on multiple sex charges.

Mark Shipley was picked up Monday on sex charges against a juvenile.
According to the arrest warrants, Shipley had sex with the young man at his home in Port Allen.

Update on the Mark Shipley case. I emailed the DA of West Baton Rouge last week asking about the disposition of the case. Here is the reply I received.

Mark Shipley was indicted in December of 07 on one count of Aggravated Rape, several counts of oral sexual battery, several counts of sexual battery and one count of molestation of a juvenile. He has been in jail since his arrest. A recent court date to dispose of pre-trial motions was continued at the request of the defense attorney and was re-set for August of this year. In my opinion, short of something drastic, Mr. Shipley will spend the rest of his life in prison!
I have tried to keep this case somewhat quiet because the young men who are victims, as you might imagine, are very embarrassed about what happened to them and don’t want their friends and the public to know about it. Can you blame them? I hope that can happen!

If they found him with the child then that pretty much says it all. Who is this Deanna person that is his wife? I have never heard of her.

Does anyone have any more info in this case? I have know Mark since childhood and was stunned to hear that he was arrested for doing such horrible things.

I do think the children should be protected, however it is also very important to let the public know that justice has been served and not covered up in a case like this!!!
