I'm new to this site, but it hasn't taken long to see that Mudbug and BR Today are on the payroll for the Loop investers. All opposition to the loop is wrong in your mind.

The loop may or may not be the solution to the traffic problem. Not one of the five parish "leaders" have honestly looked at other options. Why? Money! Some of the members of the advisory committee and the stakeholders have their own or are a part of an investment company. There is money to be made for these cats. That's why this option is the only option being seriously considered.

If they were to build a loop why not just elevate it and put it in the middle of the interstate we already have with no exits? It makes no sense to take the long way around. And there seems to be less upkeep on elevated roadways.

The biggest cause of traffic slowdowns and congestion is lack of driver education.
A train is an excellent idea for those commuting from the outskirts to Baton Rouge, but it wouldn't do much for those wanting to take the freeway into the city due to the bottleneck of traffic at the Amite River and the Mississippi Bridge. These are two difference projects I suspect.

All Clear
On the other hand... just took a peek at BRloop.com and see that the darn thing has shifted east about 1/2 a mile in Walker. Now my property is completely clear and I'm NOT next to it. If it happens, I hope it sticks where it's at now!

So are you now in support of the loop as a whole?

Mudbug seems to want to be on the payroll.

He is going to school to be a traffic engineer.

I am sure he will have to leave the state to do that job as they obviously don't have that position in Louisiana....

I agree with you. I think the land owners should have a right to vote on this issue. This may or may not ease traffic. One thing it will do is force people off of land . This is a gamble that I do not like.

Actually, I just own the site and my opinion happens to be that the loop would be a nice addition to a growing area. If I was on the payroll i'd own brloop.com and not batonrougeloop.com

I'm not on the loop payroll, but I do intern with a state agency that oversees federal/state/local spending on infrastructure. I am adamant about the loop because in the classes that I have taken, I have learned about the benefits about enlarging and building new roads versus just widening current infrastructure. I have also been a homeowner the 5 years before returning to school, so I can empathize with those afraid of losing their homes to the loop. I also have attended the Transportation Advisory Committees (TAC) and the Transportation Policy Committee (TPC) meetings, listened to what the firms had to say, listened to the local parish presidents and mayors, and read the data on how much the congestion will be alieved. You can call me what you will, but I went back to school to get this degree because I believe we can fix the traffic problem.

Scotty,

You are right about this loop is all about MONEY. They are not looking at any other options. They are wanting this because of econmic development so they can make alot of money to put in (their) pockets.
