I'm going to have to refer the Florida, Airline, Sherwood forests to the Green Light project website at Green Light Plan If you look there, it will show how the current BR administration is trying to address all the city traffic problems, but since we are 40 years behind in projects, we are trying to do smart growth. syncing up the traffic lights will help, but improved projects (like the completed S.Harrell's Ferry/I-10/Sherwood intersection and the upcoming improvements to the Sherwood/ Coursey intersectio)will also help.
The problem with just fixing the lights is that you want to keep the timing for the lights (cycle) to be under about 3 minutes (I can't quote that source, other than CE3600 class last year), but with the distance between intersections makes it hard to maintain a steady flow in high traffic times, even with synched lights. It's a threading the needle problem, and every day the traffic flow is a little different. The above Green Light Project is trying to address the bigger issues, and hopefully areas with big traffic concerns will be fixed.

Finally, the traffic in town on the surface streets and the loop are two different animals, even though the loop may releive some congestion on surface roads like florida and airline. This is an aggressive project that will take some time to finish. We just need patience right now until it is done (just look at perkins--its a mess right now, but just wait until it is 5 lanes--massive improvement for that part of town)

Do you think that the lady with the attorney will stand alone? Most people in St.Amant, and Ascension is against the loop. We are concerned for our own traffic problems. I think the loop is a band-aid on the problem. Most people in this area will join the lady with her suit . When I see a map with my area as a possiable corridor you damn right i am very concerned. As far as the 2.5 miles wide I have lots of family and friends in this area.

Just remember all the great projects they are working include the recent "renovations" to the college drive at the interstate.

Nothing makes me think of all the improvements like seeing people slamming on the brakes on the interstate because the off ramp is backed up almost to the split, because nothing makes more sense than 5 traffic lights in about 50 yards....

Good point! Its at its worst on a Saturday night at around 7ish. Thank God I know that now so I stay as far to the left as possible when passing through there so as not to A) rear-end anyone and B) get hit by someone jumping out of the STOPPED exit lane, right into 70mph traffic.

Thats some good planning right there, yes.

but how do you fix that?

Please keep the fix under $10 million dollars.

What they did on College from Perkins to Corporate cost $1 million and did improve it despite the traffic now. Without that improvement, traffic would be 5 times worse.

I think if we just get Sunny a house in that new ritzy subdivision off corporate, he could ride his bike to work and not have to worry about getting mugged where he lives now.

But only if I could visit and watch football on the big screen with him!!

Baton Rouge has many problems traffic and more. So we are to say to hell with our towns, homes, and life to fix Baton Rouge. There are too many other options .Other than to come and break familys apart. We have to give up our homes, and schools for this loop. We have a school shortage as it is .So why would you come and possibly take out 3 of them.

If you are so worried about the traffic take a cab , car pool, or a bus. Do not make us have to take care of your problems . We have enought traffic problems in St.Amant. Plus they are you problems not ours.

indeed we may be a suburb as you call it but if i wanted to live in baton rouge i would have moved there to begin with instead i chose a quiet area where my husband and his family have lived all their lives . i cant stick my hand out of the window and shake hands with my neighbor here we live far enough from others to have our privacy yet close enough to walk to all our family's homes so why in the world would we want a loop in our neighborhood breaking up our quiet and secure lives why can't we look for other solutions to the BATON ROUGE traffic problem why do we have to change our way of life to make baton rouge traffic lighter, think about it with this loop comes more traffic more area for drug runners to travel more crime more noise more of everything we didnt move to the city to gain we chose the country living
