It is nothing to do with crime! No one said anything to do with being terrorized! You are looking for a fight with people. You are no way intrested in getting answers with questions like these. If you read what I wrote you would see what it is to do with.
You ask "how would it destroy that quality of life" If you read what was wrote with an open mine you might be able to tell. It is the loss of our homes, and family members. The ones that will be forced to move. You may just not understand our way of life or may just not care. Witch ever it is, that is fine. I said my peace in what I wrote above.

No, I read that. What I don't understand is how the quality of life will be gone if the road is 5-10 miles from your house?
The crime and terrorizing part was for a previous post that mentioned that crime would flock to St. Amant.

I have to agree, it seems a shame to split or take land that has been in families for generations for a loop that may or may not turn out to be worthwhile.

werent you the one that wrote this? is it not a fact that with all this comming into play this will not attract more crime or will they have a guardian angle with each new business and gaudy apartment ? and once again we ARE in the older neighborhood .so why can you not see why we are OPPOSED to this loop these word came from you!!! no one said terrorize we said crime rate will increase read the news paper that is where most drug runners go is the interstates.you are trying to provoke us to continue to argue this .

I did write that.
And I am not trying to provoke a fight, I like the loop idea as smart economic growth, but I know that with it comes urban sprawl. (Kind of like with free speech comes pornography). Of course I hope that the level of sprawl is small, but look at LA 30 @ I-10. In the last 20 years that area has grown leaps and bounds with commercialism. Look at La 73 @I-10. Same thing, with houses and neighborhoods. Will that come to St. Amant? I hope not. Did that same sprawl come to Satsuma off of I-10 (about the same distance from Baton Rouge as Gonzales)? No.
The other point about 5-10 miles from the toll road is that if you are more than half a mile from the road, you won't notice that it's there. It's not like the road is going to be 100 feet up with spotlights on it. There is an area of highland from I-10 to Seigen is lightly populated, but close to the road. Same for I-12 from Juban to Hammond. I'm pretty sure that they aren't going to route the toll road through the city, but aim for the thinly populated areas. That may be where you live, or out in the swamps. And with the nature of a toll road or beltway, the exits are going to be fewer than what the interstate currently has. most probably if your road intersects the loop, you will just have an overpass and no exit on it.

News on the Walker portion of the loop?
I just got back from Chicago and heard that the town of Walker voted not to let the loop come through town. I can't find any info on this and was hoping someone can substantiate it. My house and property are in the proposed path so of course I am very interested!

I don't think one town can stop a project like this, but I suppose this just amounts to one more case that will go before the courts in this probably 10 year battle for the loop. Is it all really going to be worth it?
