Couple Arrested and Charged with BREC Park Killings

East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Deputies have arrested and charged two people with the double murder at a BREC park in Zachary.

Dominic Dantoni Smith of Zachary and Trendall Lashel Matthews of Jackson were each charged with two counts of first degree murder and two counts of attempted first degree murder.

A woman and a young boy, believed to be about three years old, were found dead at Doyle's Bayou Park on Pride-Port Hudson Road. Two other children, believed of them young girls, were found injured but still alive at the park.

One of the surviving children, believed to be about four years old, had a cut to the throat. The other victim is an infant, sheriff's investigators said. Both of the girls are expected to survive. They are being treated at a Baton Rouge hospital.

A BREC worker found the woman's body and called police. The two girls were then spotted in the park. As deputies were investigating the scene, they stumbled upon the body of the boy.

Deputies believe the woman's throat had been cut. The boy had "severe trauma" to his body, Meriwether reported.

Shortly after the surviving children were found, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Casey Hicks says deputies were looking for the driver of a blue Crown Victoria. Detectives have found the blue Crown Victoria and it turns out the car belongs to an elderly couple who had just been driving though the park. They say that car has nothing to do with the bodies or the children found at the park.

The park, located at 7801 Pride-Port Hudson Road, is in the northwest part of East Baton Rouge Parish near the East Feliciana Parish line.

This is a real sick crime. Anyone who would harm a child deserves to be tortured to death slowly and painfully. I'm not saying these are guilty since there's been no trail yet. But if they are it is another strong reason to support the death penalty.

**UPDATE**

East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff's deputies say a complicated love triangle led to the killing of a woman and her young son at a BREC park in Zachary. Detectives say the victims were lured to the park where they were murdered. The victim's boyfriend and another woman have been charged in the murders.

what!!

All love TRIANGLES are complicated! this does not justify murder especially of young children or anyone for that matter. it sickens me to see some of the crimes that people do. these people if they are guilty should be locked up for life and left in general population and they will get what they deserve.
