Derrek Bridges and Lena Hiser, both of Gonzales, were booked with second-degree cruelty to a juvenile after a doctor found their baby had multiple fractures.
Police Chief Bill Landry says a physician called police after he suspected injuries suffered by a 3-month-old boy were not the result of the infant falling off of a couch as reported. Landry says Hiser and Bridges took the infant to the hospital after the mother said she noticed swelling in the child's left leg. Landry says the child had a broken leg, four broken ribs and skull fractures.
Additionally, Hiser was wanted by authorities in Dallas for possession of the drug Crystal Meth. Landry says officials from the Office of Community Services took custody of the infant.
