Man shot in gentleman's club parking lot dies

One of the men shot over the weekend outside an Ascension Parish gentlemen's club has died.

Matthew Pittman was allegedly one of two other men who attacked a black man outside the Suthern Kumfort gentlemen's club Sunday morning.

Detectives say Peter Stephens was attacked and stabbed.

Deputies say he later pulled out a gun and shot at the three men, hitting two of them.
The death of Pittman now changes Stephens' charges to manslaughter and attempted manslaughter.

Luther Powell and John Schoen were also arrested.
They are charged with attempting to murder Stephens and hate crimes.

Let me make sure i'm straight on this. 2 guys attack and STAB Stephens. Stephens retrieves a gun and shoots them and HE gets charged with a crime?

Am I missing something in this story or is it safe to say that if you get stabbed, you have no grounds to answer with lethal force?

He probably went to his car, got the gun, and then came back shooting.

You can't claim self defense when you have a chance to escape, or it's over, and you come back for seconds.

'Later' could mean 10 seconds after he was stabbed, but it could also mean 10 minutes. One way or the other, he should at least have reduced charges given the circumstances.

On a lighter note, they wouldn't have these fights over the girls there if they would quit hiring strippers with a full set of teeth. There's just not enough of 'them good ones' to go around so fights break out in the parking lot.

Well, he could have at least made up an entertaining story like "But I HAD the gun. I just had to go to the car to get the damn bullets."

I'm sorry, but if two or three guys... no even if one guy attacked me with a knife and stabbed me I would go get something to kill him with. But I wouldn't have started something either. I probably would have just stayed and fought and they probably would have killed me. But I'd die trying.

"And like most young black men ran his mouth" sounds racist and it is also a very ignorant statement. I know many whites, mexicans and others that have been in the same situations. Let's keep this real now. STOP BEING STUPID!
