3 Arrests Made in Shooting Deaths of LSU Students From India

It has been 6 months since that fateful night when 2 innocent LSU students, Chandrasekhar Reddy Komma and Kiran Kumar Allam, were found slain in their university apartment complex. The 2 were victims of what appeared to be a home invasion that ended tragically. For no apparent reason, the 2 men were gunned down and left to die. The killer or killers got away without leaving much if any evidence at all.

The bodies of Chandrasekhar Reddy Komma and Kiran Kumar Allam, a chemistry student and biology student, were both flown home to be laid to rest in their native country of India. The shootings took place as final exams were wrapping up and their weren't many students left around campus which meant little or no witnesses. The case remained open with not very much in the way of leads. That is at least until now.

Today, the Louisiana State Police announced that 3 men had been arrested and taken into custody in connection with the killings. The arrests occured Wednesday and today. Michael Jermaine Lewis, 19, Casey Gathers, 20 and Devin Jamell Parker, 19, were all booked with two counts each of 1st degree murder. Lewis and Gathers were arrested while working offshore on Thursday. Parker was arrested Wednesday on a robbery charge, unrelated to the shootings.

Hopefully the amount of time that has passed since this occurred translates into a rock solid case against these 3 guys. I cannot wait to hear what led police to these 3, but i'd be willing to bet they have an airtight case. Nice work on the part of all law enforcement agencies involved. Hopefully this will help the families of the victims rest easier and not feel like our city and more importantly, our country, has let them down.

Regarding the safety of LSU's campus, let me just reiterate what I stated back when this occurred. These apartments in question are considered to be a part of the LSU campus, but to me, anything on the opposite side of state street from campus means all bets are off as far as safety is concerned. Anyone who has lived in Baton Rouge for more than a month knows that the farther you get from campus on highland after crossing state street, the worse the conditions are. Unfortunately, when the entire world read about the incident, all they read was 'on LSU campus' which I don't agree with.

Finally

I am so glad this happened. I was worried this would become a cold case file and never get solved. Can't wait til they reveal what led police to these scumbags muderers.

My prayers go out to the families of Chandrasekhar Reddy Komma and Kiran Kumar Allam.

Just heard that Devin Parker spilled the beans and told Police that he was in the apartment when the shootings took place. He sold Casey Gathers out and said that Gathers shot both men.

This is perfect, they'll all roll on eachother and hopefully they'll all get the maximum allowable sentence. Although i'd rather not have to pay for their defense and the rest of their (hopefully short) lives in prison.

It looks like Devin Parker got picked up on a burglary charge and rolled over on his friends in exchange for some sort of deal. The question remains though. What kind of deal or deals did they hand out on this one? I'd have to say he is getting some sort of immunity on this murder charge, else he'd have never implemented himself. Surely whatever burglary rap he was facing would be a MUCH lighter penalty than the one he'll be facing for the LSU shootings, no?
