East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff's deputies are investigating a stabbing and deadly shooting that happened Saturday night.
Deputies say they were called to a Texaco station on Old Hammond Hwy. Saturday night around 9:15 in reference to a stabbing. They say when they arrived at the convenience store, 27-year-old Obidio Gomez told them he had been stabbed by 26-year-old Ruben Osorio after having a confrontation over who would pay for their beer.
While checking the area, deputies say they found Osorio on West Azalea Park a short time later. He had been shot multiple times. He was transported to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Reports indicate that Gomez, Osorio, and another man had allegedly gone inside the Texaco to buy beer, and after having a disagreement over who would pay for the beer, Osorio stabbed Gomez. Investigators say after the stabbing, Osorio fled and Gomez allegedly contacted his brother to tell him about the stabbing. They say at that point, Jose Torres-Gomez, Sergio Gomes, and Marcos De La Cruz Lara allegedly began searching for Osorio.
It is believed the men caught up with Osorio near the 1200 block of West Azalea, chased him, and shot him multiple times. Sheriff's detectives arrested 30-year-old Jose Torres-Gomez and 32-year-old Sergio Gomes on Monday. They are still looking for 21-year-old Marcos De La Cruz Lara, who they think is the triggerman.
Gomez and Gomes are charged with principle to second-degree murder, while De La Cruz Lara is wanted for second-degree murder. Deputies say all of the men involved in the incident are Hispanic illegal immigrants, so the names and birthdates are based on the identification found on them.
Anyone with information on the incident or De La Cruz Lara's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP.
