State police say Robert Newman, the man who reportedly caused a three-vehicle crash on I-10 Sunday, was legally drunk after the crash.
Troopers say the pickup Newman was driving crossed the median and hit two other vehicles.
Eight-year-old Grace Gary of Baton Rouge was killed in the accident and 11 others received injuries.
Newman has turned himself in to the St. John Parish Sheriff's Office after an arrest warrant was issued Wednesday.
According to police, Newman had a blood alcohol level of .13% after the crash.
Newman has been charged with one count of vehicular homicide, two counts of vehicular negligent injury, seven counts of first-degree vehicular negligent injuring, two counts of child endangerment, driving while intoxicated, and reckless operation.
