A 14-year-old boy is dead after police say he tried to rob a man, and now, his friend is in jail for murder. Detectives say the 14-year-old got out of a car and decided to rob a man. They say that man actually had a gun and shot the 14-year-old before he could be robbed. The 14-year-old somehow stumbled back into the car, and the driver took off.
Police tell us the driver eventually dumped the 14-year-old's body out on North Sherwood. Police have charged that alleged driver, Demarcus Alexander with murder even though he didn't do the shooting. Under Louisiana law, a person can be charged with the murder even though he did not do the shooting because he was allegedly involved in the commission of an armed robbery where someone died.
Alexander's family wasn't happy to see a news crew when they showed up. In fact, his mother got arrested after a camera man was roughed up a bit. You don't actually see it happen, but while the videographer was shooting something else, a hand flashes across the lens and the camera is jolted. The woman is then arrested.
This happened on Becky Lee, where the suspect lives. The mother was arrested and her younger son as well, all for the exchange at the house.
