One of three men accused of trying to rob a store that sells video games was shot by the store's security guard Tuesday evening. The two other suspected robbers sped from the scene in a dark-colored car and were not caught.
The man who was shot was taken from the scene by ambulance. His condition was not immediately known, but one officer on the scene said "it didn't look good." The robbery happened just before 8:30pm at the Gameware store on College Drive near Perkins.
Just minutes before that robbery, Game Stop, another store that sells video games, was also robbed. The Game Stop store is located off South Mall Drive near Sicily's Pizza. No one was injured in that incident. It was not immediately clear if the two robberies were related.
The Game Stop robbery was being investigated by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office. The incident at Gameward on College Drive was being investigated by the Baton Rouge Police Department.
There have been at least three other similar robberies in Baton Rouge in recent weeks. Last Wednesday, a gunman robbed the Game Stop on Bluebonnet near Perkins. In that particular robbery, a man wearing a stocking on his head walked into the store and robbed the clerk at gunpoint. The gunman fled the scene on foot and was not caught.
