I'm not on the loop payroll, but I do intern with a state agency that oversees federal/state/local spending on infrastructure. I am adamant about the loop because in the classes that I have taken, I have learned about the benefits about enlarging and building new roads versus just widening current infrastructure. I have also been a homeowner the 5 years before returning to school, so I can empathize with those afraid of losing their homes to the loop. I also have attended the Transportation Advisory Committees (TAC) and the Transportation Policy Committee (TPC) meetings, listened to what the firms had to say, listened to the local parish presidents and mayors, and read the data on how much the congestion will be alieved. You can call me what you will, but I went back to school to get this degree because I believe we can fix the traffic problem.
