Andrea Miller, associate professor of mass communication in LSU’s Manship School of Mass Communication, has been named associate dean for undergraduate studies and administration. She replaces Associate Dean David Kurpius, now LSU’s interim associate vice chancellor for enrollment management.

“Dr. Miller has done an outstanding job heading the journalism area and serving as co-rector of the Mass Communication Residential College,” said Manship School Dean Jerry Ceppos. “She is dedicated and student-oriented. I’m confident that she will do a great job recruiting top students to the Manship School.”

Miller has been on the Manship School faculty since 2003. She teaches broadcast courses and served as adviser to LSU’s Tiger TV station from 2003-2007. In 2004, she won a Tiger Athletic Foundation Teaching Award. She is actively involved with the school’s Digital Media Initiative, and she is instrumental in supplying content to state broadcast stations, including a 30-minute “Manship Highlights Show.”

“I’m excited about this new position and look forward to working even more closely with all of our wonderful students,” Miller said.

Before earning a Ph.D. at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2003, Miller was a producer for KTVT-TV in Fort Worth, Texas. From 1990-1994 she was an anchor, producer, reporter or editor for stations in Amarillo and Dallas.
