Florida Blvd Crash Claims the Life of Baton Rouge Woman

Baton Rouge Police Traffic Homicide Division is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred, Tuesday, August 09, 2011, at approximately 7:30 a.m., in the 10200 block of Florida Boulevard just west of Sharp Lane.  The collision involved a 2005 Ford Taurus and a 2009 Toyota Camry that resulted in fatal injuries to the driver of the Toyota.

The at-scene investigation revealed the driver of the Ford Taurus was traveling east on Florida Boulevard in the inside lane of travel approaching Sharp Lane.  According to a witness and physical evidence, the vehicle struck the inside guard rail then lost control crossing over the center median.  After crossing the center median the Ford Taurus struck a westbound Toyota Camry head on that was traveling in the inside lane.  As a result of the collision the Toyota was pushed into the ditch north of Florida Boulevard near the service road.  The Ford rotated in a counter-clockwise direction and came to rest in the inside lane.  At this time it is unknown what caused the driver to strike the guard rail and lose control of his vehicle.

The driver of the Ford was identified as Carlos Rodriguez 20, of Mission, TX.  Mr. Rodriguez was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.  He was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Toyota was identified as Tanisha Allison 36, of Baton Rouge, LA.  Ms. Allision was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.  She was transported to the Baton Rouge General Hospital where she later died..
