Tangipahoa Sheriff Finds 5 Year Old Child in Home With Meth Lab

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that a 5 year old child was found inside of an Amite residence that was being used as a meth lab.

A male and female were arrested as the result of an on-going investigation led by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit. Upon entering the residence, deputies located the child along with several materials used in the manufacturing of methamphetamines. The child was transported to a local medical facility for observation and OCS was notified of the incident.

Arrested were Eric Gaines, DOB 3.24.57 and Kathy Gaines, DOB 2.4.71, both of 25429 Hwy 16 East in Amite.

Both subjects were arrested and charged with Cruelty to a Juvenile, Manufacturing Methamphetamines and Operation, Creation of a Clandestine Lab.
