Around 3:00 am on the morning of August 1, 2011, LPSO Deputies were dispatched to the report of a burglary in progress and a suspicious vehicle on Ledoux Lane south of Walker, La. Upon
arrival they noticed a riding lawn mower near the suspicious vehicle that appeared to have been taken from a nearby structure as if someone may have been trying to steal it. They also observed that window screens had been removed from at least three separate homes on this dead end street. Deputies also took note of the chairs and stools that were positioned below each of these windows which would have allowed a person easy access to “peep” into the homes.

Suddenly the Deputies saw a man, who appeared to be nude, run from the shed in which he had been hiding and “streak” out across a field. The man scaled a fence made from tin and fled into a thickly wooded area. After several verbal commands to stop went unheeded, K-9 “Gunner” was deployed into the woods. After several minutes, Gunner made an apprehension. Deputies who were following Gunner finally caught up to him. They located and handcuffed the man, brought him out, and transported him to a local hospital.

Upon release from the hospital, Jason D. Clayton, a 35 year old white male who listed his address as 21375 Vincent Acres Circle, Denham Springs, La., will be booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on the following charges:

  • 1 Count Peeping Tom
  • 1 Count Obscenity
  • 1 Count Simple Burglary
  • 1 Count Felony Theft
  • 1 Count Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling
  • 1 Count Attempted Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling
  • 1 Resisting an Officer

A hold has also been placed on Clayton for a probation violation.

At one of the homes where a screen had been removed a woman told Deputies that she had been awake and was working on her computer. She said she heard a noise, got up to investigate and saw a man run out the door. He left so quickly she was unable to see what he was wearing. The woman later identified Clayton as the intruder. The man told Deputies that he had taken a “party mix” of drugs earlier that night and that he was going to “borrow” the lawn mower and return it when he was finished cutting his grass.

Deputies were puzzled as to how he was going to load this 500 pound riding mower into his 1997 Oldsmobile. They also found his clothes strew about the inside of the car.

Clayton was arrested earlier this year for another home invasion that occurred on June 29, 2011 south of Denham Springs.
