The east and westbound travel lanes of Interstate 10 will be closed for approximately 20 minutes beginning Friday, September 2 at 2 a.m. The eastbound closure will occur at Siegen Lane, while the westbound lanes will close at Highland Road. During the closure, crews from Entergy will repair a power line across the interstate highway.
Also on September 2, the left lane of I-10 westbound will be closed between Highland Road and Siegen Lane from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. This lane closure will allow construction crews to repair an impact attenuator that was damaged in a crash.
Eastbound motorists may detour this area by exiting at Siegen Lane (Exit 163) and traveling north to Airline Highway. Turn right on Airline Hwy. and travel east to Highland Road. Turn right on Highland Rd. and travel south to reconnect with I-10. Westbound motorists may detour this area by exiting at Highland Rd. (Exit 166) and traveling north to Airline Hwy. Turn left on Airline Hwy. and travel west to Siegen Ln. Turn left on Siegen Ln. and travel south to reconnect with I-10.
Motorists are urged to use extreme caution in construction zones and to obey all posted speed limits.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development appreciates the patience of drivers during this construction program. Everyone is reminded to exercise caution, and to obey the lower posted speed limits and other warning signs in the work zones.
The Geaux Wider program is a multi-year construction initiative designed to increase capacity, improve safety and enhance mobility on Interstates 10 and 12 in East Baton Rouge and Livingston Parishes.
The following interstate segments are being widened to six lanes under the Geaux Wider program:
- Interstate 10, from the I-10/12 split to Siegen Lane.
- Interstate 10, from the Siegen Lane interchange to Highland Road.
- Interstate 12, from the O’Neal Lane interchange to Pete’s Highway.
- Interstate 12 eastbound, from Pete’s Highway to Juban Road.
