BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo will host Zippity Zoo Fest on Saturday, April 2, and Sunday, April 3. This event celebrates the Zoo’s anniversary, and this year marks the Zoo’s accomplishment of being 41-years-WILD.

“Zippity Zoo Fest is the beginning of one of our favorite times at the Zoo – spring,” said Zoo Director Phil Frost. “The Zoo’s festival is the perfect time to bring your family outdoors and enjoy the amazing improvements to the Zoo, like Realm of the Tiger. The Zoo is green and beautiful this time of year.”

Zippity Zoo Fest will feature a children’s village with a giant inflatable slide and obstacle course. A rock wall is a new addition this year, and visitors will be able to buy a pass to climb the wall as many times as they please during the day. Area attractions will exhibit information about their programs while providing fun crafts and activities for children. Visitors can get their faces painted, take a Safari Snapshot with a Zoo animal, and visit the Wildlife Safari Amphitheater at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. for a show. Keeper Chats are planned at the Otter Cabin at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day.

The EdZOOcation Station, located at the Zoo’s amphitheatre, will allow kids to get up-close to some feathered, slimy, scaly and furry friends.

Regular Zoo admission applies for Zippity Zoo Fest and is $7.00 for adults and teens, $4.00 for children ages 2 to 12, $6.00 for senior citizens and children ages one and under are free. For Zippity, Zoo admissions are open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Zoo grounds close at 6 p.m.

BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo is a place where people connect with animals, including elephants, giraffes, rhinos and alligators. The world-class Realm of the Tiger is now open featuring highly endangered tigers, Siamang gibbons and beautiful Asian birds. Visitors can enjoy the new Flamingo Cove and Giants of the Islands, featuring the Zoo’s Chilean flamingos and Galapagos and Aldabra tortoises, as well as the Safari Playground, the Otter Pond, our exhibit featuring a replicated fishing cabin with underwater viewing of the otters, L’aquarium de Louisiane, Parrot Paradise and KidsZoo.
