A former Baton Rouge Police Officer was arrested on charges of Malfeasance in Office, Unauthorized Used of an Access Card and Theft. Detectives took Willie Jones of Baker into custody this morning.

Between July and December 2009, while still employed with the city, Jones is accused of purchasing $714.81 worth of gasoline using a department-issued fleet card to fuel his personal vehicle. Jones’ city-issued police car and gas card were taken from him in July 2009 due to a vehicle policy violation and he is accused of removing a gas card from another city vehicle and repeatedly using it to fuel his personal truck.

Jones was a police officer from April 19, 2004 until January 5, 2010 when he resigned in lieu of termination following the discovery of these gasoline purchases. He was arrested this morning and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
