East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Detectives arrested a husband and wife yesterday evening for enticing, aiding and permitting two juveniles to engage in a violent fight in their home this past week.
Chanda Veal Parker, 28, and William Jamo Parker, 31, both of 9478 Swingalong Avenue, Baton Rouge are charged with two felony counts of Cruelty to a Juvenile and seven misdemeanor counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile.
Sheriff’s Detectives were made aware of a video posted on YouTube yesterday morning. The video, allegedly recorded at the residence of the accused, is believed to show a fourteen-year-old girl and sixteen-year-old girl fighting inside a garage while five juveniles, which allegedly range in ages from three years old to sixteen years old, stand by and watch. In the video, the accused bring the juveniles into their garage where they begin fighting. As a result, it appears the 14-year-old girl sustains a laceration to her lip that bleeds profusely. She appears to attempt to stop fighting and enter the residence, but Chanda Parker appears to close the door and order the juvenile to continue to fight by telling her to “run up” on the sixteen year old.
Detectives immediately began investigating the origin of the video and the identity of the adults featured. Within hours, they had the Parkers in custody. Detectives transported the accused and booked them into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. A judge with the 19th Judicial Court set the bond at $35,000.
“This type of behavior will not be tolerated,” Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said. “We urge the public to contact law enforcement if they are aware of any acts of this nature.”
Anyone with information concerning this type of activity is asked to contact the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office at 225-389-5000. Crime Stoppers is also offering a cash reward for anyone with information leading to an arrest. Contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at (225) 344- STOP or (225) 344-7867.
